Hello everyone- here is the March edition of the monthly newsletter!

Thank you to everyone keeping me/mum updated with any results or participation in events- it’s super helpful to write this recap. So don’t hesitate to send through anything to Caroline.

Just recently was the Ironman Geelong 70.3! In such a big event for Australia Lesley West came 1st in her age group and 3rd ‘amateur’ female overall. Hamish Mirrihy did a great effort coming 69th out of 125 in his AG. Craig Schepis came 21at out of 48 in his AG. Rod Kilborn and Phillip Cochrane also had a great races, and Olivia Marr and Jude Channon competed in the teams event.

On the same weekend was 2XU race 6- Louise Wood came 1st in her age group racing the Olympic distance!! Jonas also did the Olympic distance with a 3rd in his AG! And Pat Conway competed in the teams Melbourne Corporate Triathlon. Go Dad!

Ross Clark competed in the Vic State Masters 5k (and presented medals) and came away with a 4th-breaking 25 minute mark! Dean Watts completed the Peaks Challenge Falls Creek as well. Molly Voss raced div 3 for another round of the Summer Spritz Women’s Crit!!! Great job all.

A few weeks ago was the junior/U23/Elite Oceania Championships in Devonport. I raced the Juniors and was happy to place 25th in my first year racing in that category. I was very excited to watch both Darcy Williams and Oscar Wootton in the U23 as they are both very amazing athletes and did very well at the event. Oscar won the U23’s and Darcy 7th. Steve Oliver was also an official down at the event.

The club also received some grants for athletes in BTC to support travel as part of a sports club program (Vic State Government – Sporting Club Grants Program - $750 per BTC member in relation to travel and triathlon. Mum says another fantastic reason to spread the word to become a member of the Ballarat Triathlon Club!).

And this weekend’s Lake Esmond race is the last of the season- so after this keep an eye out for some duathlons in winter. There will be a post season wrap up (with food) back at the clubrooms open to everyone.

That’s it from me. Go BTC!

From Adam.
